The Northern Wayne Community Library in Lakewood, PA is looking for an energetic multi-tasker who enjoys working with people and is detail oriented.
The position requires a wide variety of people, clerical, and computer skills to aid in the operation of the community library.
The candidate needs to ensure a positive experience for our community by engaging with patrons, connecting users with information/ materials and promoting library services.
This position reports to the Library Director.
Specific Responsibilities: ● Provide a full range of circulation services, including reference and readers advisory ● Provide daily maintenance of the library as needed, including shelving, pulling holds, answering/making phone calls, cleaning, and preparation for programs.
● Assist patrons with operations of computers, databases, e-resources, copier, and other equipment.
● Assist patrons with scanning documents, making copies, faxing, and general computer help.
● Assist with marketing/promotional efforts and assist with all fundraising activities/ events.
● Assist with children/adult programming and events.
● Clerical duties as assigned, may include filing, writing letters, and maintaining database information.
Education and Work Experience: ● High School Diploma or its equivalent required.
● 3 years customer service experience preferred.
Special Requirements: ● This position required the satisfactory passage of three clearances: the PA State Police Criminal Record Check; the PA Child Abuse History Clearance, and the FBI Fingerprint based Background Check Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: ● Desire and ability to serve the public with enthusiasm, friendliness, neutrality, tact, and diplomacy.
● Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people.
● Ability to file accurately and quickly in both numeric and alphabetical order.
● Ability to exercise mature independent judgment and be self-motivated.
● Ability to comprehend and follow instructions and communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
● Adept at multitasking and organization with keen eye for detail.
● Capable with computers, Microsoft Office, Canva,Google Docs/Sheets, web browsing and search engines.
● Must be comfortable with working alone on occasion.
Physical Demands: This position requires the employee to frequently stand, walk, sit, speak, hear, and use hands to operate office equipment, and reach/lift with hands and arms.
Vision requirements include the ability to read routine and complex documents and use a computer.
The employee is often required to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
Hours and Wage: ● Part time position ● Hours are mostly afternoon hours and could include Tuesday 1-5, W 3-6, Th 3-5, F 1-5, and Sat 9-2.
● Must be adaptable to changing work hours and have flexible availability to fill in where needed ● $11.
