Location: Binghamton, NY Category: Professional Posted On: Thu Feb 29 2024 Job Description: Budget Title: Assistant Director of Career Planning & Development (SL-4) Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 The Associate Director for Experiential Education leads initiatives to support the career readiness and professional development of all Binghamton University students specifically related to experiential learning.
This position will support efforts to increase the number of students participating in internships and support the coordination and amplification of High Impact Practices (HIPs) on campus.
This role will work collaboratively with campus partners to ensure all students participate in at least 1 HIP by the time they graduate.
The role will focus on elevating the storytelling and marketing initiatives around HIPS, to highlight the positive impact that participating in a HIP has on the student experience and career outcomes.
Responsibilities: Set strategic goals and provide overall leadership for experiential learning initiatives, create a campus-wide collaborative group to work on relevant priorities related to HIPs.
Analyze relevant HIPS data, and cultivate strategic partnerships and awareness initiatives in response to the data.
Curate awareness initiatives and conduct student outreach related to 'nonparticipant' groups which refers to the number of students not participating in a high-impact practice by the time they graduate.
Provide 1:1 consulting for students specifically related to the internship/experiential learning search and skill building.
Supervise the internship education team (CDCI), and support intentional integration with academic and campus partners.
Provide a level of expertise and awareness of the latest trends and policies related to internships, experiential learning, and high-impact practices.
Support Senior Associate Director, Student Engagement and Career Readiness with skill building programming and initiatives.
Job Requirements: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position Master's degree in higher education or a related field and 4+ years of professional experience in career services or related functional area Knowledge or awareness of experiential learning, internship, and/or high-impact practices Strategic thinker, with the ability to brainstorm and collaborate with a team to develop long-term strategies that support the success of Binghamton University students Self-starting, creative professional with the ability to create and manage multiple projects simultaneously Demonstrated experience working cooperatively and collaboratively with students, employers, staff, and faculty with diverse backgrounds Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to write compelling career education content that engages the reader Must share core values of campus collaboration, high ethical standards, and dedication to what is best for students, employers, and Binghamton University Preferred: Experience supervising professional staff, student staff or paraprofessional staff Knowledge of student development and career development theories Preferred knowledge of career management and higher education systems, such as Handshake, Banner, and Brightspace Additional Information: Offers of employment may be contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check and verification of degree(s) and credentials.
